I think most of the strategy games are using the grid system to arrange the avatar’s movement and attacking range.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_92J8NIJBhJE/RfX67kl9PhI/AAAAAAAAACY/SSEIo2J__d0/s320/Hex.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5041211259253243410" />
Strategy game is one of my favorite genres. NECTARIS, developed by Hudson Soft for the PC-Engine platform and released at 1989, is the first strategy game that I like. They use Hex instead of Square as a grid system.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_92J8NIJBhJE/RfX21Ul9PeI/AAAAAAAAACA/uFgUPlveCAA/s320/houi01.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5041206753832549858" />The reason I fascinated in this game is because I need to use the new way to think about how to win in the game. Besides the effect of topography, you can use either “Surround” to distract the enemy’s strength of attack and defense or use “Support” to increase your troop’s attack and defense ability. With those tactics, you can beat off the strong enemy with cheap troop unit.<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_92J8NIJBhJE/RfX5ykl9PgI/AAAAAAAAACQ/S_suEolIcF0/s320/game_4.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5041210005122792962" />
After surrounding he enemy, even the enemy’s (the green one) experience is better then me, I got the higher attack and defense power.

Download the TGemu (a free PC-Engine emulator for Mac OS X)

Download the NECTARIS Rom from somewhere

Another strategy game that I like is “Front Mission”, which developed by SQUARE Soft in 1995. The “Front Mission” is a series of games. It starting from Super NES platform and they released the “Front Mission 5— Scars of the War” for the PS2 at 2006. This is a fantastic robot war game. You can buy the parts and the weapons for your robots. Recruit the pilot you need according their own special skill. The greatest part of this game is you can attack one enemy at the same time with multiple robots by arranging the tactics with “Link” function. I highly recommend this game to everyone who like the SLG.

Prototype_01

Volley Invader! It contains properties such as _x, _y, _xscale, _alpha, _currentframe, and so on, and methods like gotoAndPlay, attachMovie, lineTo, and so on.

If you write a class that extends MovieClip, it will automatically inherit all the properties and methods inherent to a movie clip. Then you can add specific behaviors or properties that apply only to the type of object you are creating. For example, say you wanted to make a spaceship object for a game. You might want it to contain some graphics, have a position on the screen, move around, rotate, change its appearance over time, contain some sounds, listen for enterFrame events for animation, and listen for keyboard and mouse events for interaction. These are all things that movie clips can do, so it makes sense to extend MovieClip."

This week OOP !!

I can't load and control the Object correctly! One of my favorites is Rez. It develops by Sonic Team (SEGA) in 2001 and released for both PS2 and Dreamcast. For the assignment, I would like to introduce “bit Generations”. Published by Nintendo in Japan, 2006. They are 7 individual mini games. All the games are easy-to-play and have their own rules and goals. All of them are 8-bit color and music games for GBA consol.
>>intro movie for the game

I pick one of the 7 games to describe. It’s “dotstream”.

+Goal: The first line reach the end will be the winner.

+System: All the lines will move to the right automatically. Push Up and Down button to change the line position. Reach the goal before life meter exhaust.

+Elements: The elements are quite simple. They are different colors of lines, square boxes, special items and music.

+Interactions: The straighter line you draw the higher speed you get. When the line hit the red square boxes, it will make some sounds and slow the speed down for few seconds. Move across the arrow marker or press the R button (it costs one life meter and you can only use twice) will push the speed to a higher level for a few second. (Just like when you use the mushrooms in Mario Kart)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_92J8NIJBhJE/RbU6UOoECxI/AAAAAAAAABI/_g6pgrO2Zac/s400/dotstream.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5022985078599584530" />
